Educating American teens on the interconnectedness of human behavior around the world and our environment

CarbonXP helps students to take their climate change learning experience into their own hands.

The team has been working closely with Dr. Leah Dundon on creating an interactive app aimed at high school students to teach them about climate change. The app will pair with an e-book to be used in a classroom and allow the students to learn about climate change, the environmental effects of climate change, and investigate their impact personally. Some features of the app will be a personal carbon contribution counter and short video clips from the United Nations climate change conference.

Naming Ideation Session

In this brainstorm session, located at the Wondr’y, some members of the CarbonXP team and others went through an iterative “diamond-shaped” brainstorm process to think up a name of their app. The most powerful ideation involves both diverging in mindset to consider all possible options and converging to the single best one.

Design Details

When the stakeholder found Change++, designs for CarbonXP had not yet been created. The team took it upon themselves to connect with a student graphic designer to fill in the gaps. On the right, is a map of the screens involved for the app’s main navigation and first activity, the Carbon Counter, during an intermediate stage of development.
